Flourless Peanut Butter Banana Cookies - A Recipe Dogs Love

Pups Love These Simple and Delicious Grain Free Peanut Butter Treats 

Show me a dog who does not love peanut butter and I will show you a frankfurter. Peanut butter is a universal trigger. It makes dogs drool and stirs fond childhood memories in many humans. What is it about this sweet, savory, sticky substance?

At Goodness Gracious, we make human grade treats - like our peanut butter banana cookies using only whole foods that dogs love. We use all-natural peanut butter – the single ingredient kind (just peanuts). Regular peanut butter is loaded with sugar, salt, and other things dogs don’t need. We also use fresh bananas that we peel ourselves – not some canned syrupy variety. So, our recipe for you recommends these same two ingredients.

This recipe is inspired by my grandmother – who made the best peanut butter cookies on the planet. Her cookies were for her grandkids (not pups) so she used sugar. But her recipe – a flourless one – had just three ingredients. Our recipe below is equally flourless, and simple.

The Recipe:

Equipment needed: Mixing bowl, measuring cup, cookie sheet, parchment paper, fork, cooling rack. 

Ingredients:

1 cup all-natural peanut butter (creamy or crunchy – your choice)

1 fresh banana, peeled and broken into chunks

1 egg

1 cup Hula Lula Snowflakes for dogs (a nutritious high-protein topper for dog food bowls)

Method: First, combine peanut butter, banana and egg in a mixing bowl. Mash the banana into the mixture with the back of a fork and thoroughly combine. Add ½ cup Hula Lula Snowflakes. (Set aside the other ½ cup.) Fully incorporate Hula Lula Snowflakes into the mixture. Chill batter in the fridge for about one hour.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. 

Pour remaining half cup of Hula Lula Snowflakes into a flat-bottomed dish. Remove mixing bowl with dough from the fridge. One by one, scoop a spoonful of dough into your palm, and roll it into a ball. Drop each dough ball into the dish of Hula Lula Snowflakes and coat with the flakes. Then place each cookie onto the lined baking sheet. With the back of a fork, press each ball to flatten, and create a crisscross pattern on the top.  

Bake for about 10 minutes or until set and lightly golden. (You can cook longer if your dog likes a crispier cookie). Transfer cookies to a rack to cool. Store cookies in an airtight container in the fridge for one week.
